| A Kitty Cat Christmas

by Lady Brown
T'was the night before Christmas and all through the home
All the kittens were safe, not wanting to roam.
Each mitten was hung on the cat tree with care,
In hopes that Santa Cat soon would be there.
The kittens were snuggled all crammed in their beds,
While visions of cat toys played in their heads.
Mom Cat and I, in our large round wraps,
Had just snuggled in for a short catnap.
When out in the kitchen, there came noises quite loud
I leaped from my bed and heard a thunderous meow.
When what should my crazy eyes see twice
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny mice.
With the driver's orange tail so fluffy and fat
I knew in a purr it must be Santa Cat.
More quickly than rats his mice they all came.
He meowed and purred and called them by name:
"Now Fuzzy! Now Felix! Now Fritzie and Mo!
On Wickey! On Ronald! On Linnie and Joe!
To the top of the cat tree, to the top of the wall!
Now scurry, scurry, scurry away all!"
Up to the tree the mice they all flew
With the sleigh full of toys and Santa Cat, too.
With a twitch of Santa's big fluffy tail
All the cat toys were hung on every nail.
With his whiskers quite long and fur really hairy,
Santa Cat slid down looking mischievous and merry.
He stuffed all the mittens with toys big and small.
Then turning around, he threw me a large round ball.
Twitching his whiskers and winking his eye,
Santa Cat called his mice and to the sleigh they did fly.
He scooped up the milk we'd left in a dish.
Nodding his thanks, a special message he did wish.
I heard him meow as he drove out of sight,
"A Meowy Christmas to all and to all a Purrrrrfect good night!'
