| My
Hero

Faith Marie Bobb
My hero is a lady. She's also an angel here on earth and a human of
remarkable love for felines in our area. Her name is Lynn Stitt.
Lynn, with the help of volunteers, runs The Best Little Cat House in
PA, one of the nations longest established organizations providing hospice
care for the regions cats. Cats brought into the shelter including ones
that have been diagnosed with Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia can live
out their lives in a warm, caring almost family environment, and are
provided with the best food and medication possible.
The shelter is divided into 4 sections..the Dome, the Well Room, the
Bunny Room and the Wildlife Room. It sits in the mountains and doesn't
keep us in cages when we come there to finish our days, but lets us
roam free with others like us.
The Dome is where cats live that all have either Feline Immunodeficiency
Virus ( FIV or Feline Aids) or Feline Leukemia (FeLV). In many cases
cats arrive at the shelter following Spay and Neuter programs of feral
colonies by groups in the area that have tested the cats and removed
the AIDS and Leukemia positives. Even feral cats can become friendly
and eager to be combed and cuddled in this caring environment.
My humans discovered this place when one of the cats Mom trapped out
back to be neutered tested positive for FIV. The vet wanted to euthanize
him but Mom wanted to hold on until she checked into alternatives and
she found Lynn and her haven for terminal kitties.Buddy, our FIV cat,
was welcomed and fit right in. He lived there for many months before
he journeyed to Rainbow Bridge.
Here is a picture of the Dome cats, enjoying their day.

There is also a Well Room for non-infectious cats that are old, unable
to be looked after due to illness, need regular attention or are unwanted,
or have Cerebellar conditions (improper balance and co-ordination).
In the Bunny Room live abandoned and abused domestic rabbits. These
bunnies are the only residents that can be adopted and are often
shown at Petsmart, looking for a forever home.
The Wildlife Room has hordes of abandoned baby rabbits, squirrels and
possums, they are released back into the wild as soon as they
are able to fend for themselves.
It takes a very special person to dedicate their life to caring for
terminal cats, knowing that every day they may lose one or more of us
as the disease progresses. She is truly my hero.
